General Information

Classroom Procedures
Parents are welcome to enter classrooms. We would like to remind you of our protocol.

Lessons begin at 8:45am. It is therefore imperative that all visitors have left the area to keep distractions and noise levels to a minimum. At 3:15pm, we request that you wait outside the unit until the children have been dismissed. This assists the teacher with routines. Just as importantly, it prevents the corridors from becoming congested causing a potential disaster should there be a need for an emergency evacuation.

Please make appointments to meet teachers. In the mornings, teachers are very busy preparing for the day. They also have many after school commitments.

If you have an emotional issue that is upsetting and requires immediate response, please come to the front office.

Student Attendances
Throughout the year we monitor student attendances. Some recent changes include our request to please:

Apply for exemption from the principal for non attendance due to family excursions.

Notify us in written form on special school provided notes (not diary or communication books as we need to keep the notes for auditor requirements.)

If necessary, phone the school and front office staff may accept to record the reason for absence and pass it to the teacher. We thank you for supporting these procedures and ask you to continue to notify us of the reasons for your child's absence. The Principals and/or Attendance Officers investigate unexplained absences. A child arriving 5 minutes after the start of school is regarded as being "late for school."

FRIENDLY ZONES
All classrooms and units are friendly safe zones where students, parents and teachers rights to respect and dignity are of paramount importance. In the morning, teachers are very busy preparing for the day. Parents who are upset, or feeling emotional are requested to:

  • make an appointment to see a member of the Leadership Team make an appointment to see the teacher when quality time can be given to the issue.

Parking and Traffic
School and Noarlunga Councils constructed a "kiss and drop" zone on Malbeck Drive. We hope this will alleviate the frustration associated with the lack of parking facilities. Sometimes the congestion has been made worse when drivers break rules to save time. This includes parking in no parking zones, stopping in the middle of the road or at the lights to pick up or drop children, travelling faster than 25km to get somewhere first and not using the lights to cross the road.

Please be aware that heavy fines and penalties exist for parking and traffic violations.

School Fees and School Card Applications
Please pay school fees promptly. Statements are mailed out to those families who have not paid their fees yet. The finance office will be open 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for the payment of fees and School Card applications.

School fees may be paid by instalments. The school is willing to assist you with financial issues throughout the year. Please feel free to meet with a member of the leadership team. These meetings are confidential and informal.

School fees are reviewed annually.
